The Cofradía Europea de la Vela, an international organization devoted to maritime culture, sailing and nautical tradition, is preparing a major investiture ceremony in Rome, Italy, for November 2026. The gathering will bring the Cofradía's members together in the Eternal City, in a program that also includes the Vatican.

According to the organizers, the CEV Rome 2026 Investiture was designed as an immersive experience, leading participants into the historical, cultural and spiritual essence of Rome. Over several days, two guided walking tours of Imperial Rome are planned, visiting landmarks central to the Western world, along with moments of fellowship and reflection among members.

One of the highlights will be taking part in a public audience with the Pope, at the Vatican, reinforcing the cultural, historical and symbolic dimension of the ceremony.

The connection with Brazil is close. In April, members of the Cofradía visited Florianópolis for Blue Nautical HUB Brasil, bringing the organization even closer to the Brazilian nautical sector and opening the way for new connections between the two sides of the Atlantic.

The HUB program featured the gathering of the Cofradía Europea de la Vela, an international organization tied to maritime culture, sailing, nautical tradition and the strengthening of bonds among countries connected by the sea.

The meeting brought together members, guests, authorities and sector representatives in a symbolic moment of rapprochement between Brazil and Europe, strengthening international cooperation, nautical diplomacy, maritime culture and the building of new institutional connections.

For ACATMAR, the Cofradía's presence in Brazil and the preparation of the investiture in Rome confirm the value of nautical diplomacy: uniting countries, cultures and generations around respect for the sea and the appreciation of the Sea Economy.
